About Historic Preservation, History, Heritage, Landmarks in Chicago and the rest of the world and the technotempo of current times and past times.

This is Time Tells, Vince Michael’s weblog which began in August 2005 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I am the John H Bryan Chair in Historic Preservation

I enjoyed your post about gentrification. It was thoughtful, and dealt well with the issue of displacement. I like the idea of transient people wanting to save buildings as reminders, I think that is a good point. We can come and go, but the fabric of the place will stay the same, or at least be recognizable when we come back.

    Thanks,

    Hello Vince
Your blog on heritage preservation is very interesting. I wonder if you might help us spread the word about a conference on this very topic that is going to take place in November 2012 in Florence, Italy. ‘Florens 2012 Cultural and Environmental Heritage Week’ (November 3-11) is really an event, consisting of a conference, exhibits and much more. We have opened a call for bloggers who can compete to win travel and accommodation to participate in the event. Details of this call are here http://www.fondazioneflorens.it/en/team-florens-2/
